Global Engage

The IB community theme: sharing our humanity was a fixed term project running from April 2007 to April 2010.

It aimed to strengthen the whole IB community (students, teachers, IB staff, parents and others) while engaging with six specific global issues, grouped under the heading sharing our humanity:

• Global poverty
• Peace and conflict
• Education for all
• Global infectious diseases
• Digital divide - uneven access to information and communication technologies
• Disasters and emergencies

Central to the community theme was the community theme website.

Before the end of the community theme, IB decided that its engagement with global issues should be broadened to embrace all global issues, and on a continuing open-ended basis. The IB community theme website has therefore evolved into this Global Engage website.

Many posts on this site were made during the community theme, and most of these are carried forward here.

During the community theme, three IB global lessons were devised on Global poverty, Peace and conflict, and for Earth Day. The lessons and associated materials are useful and current.
