Assistant site moderators (French and Spanish)
for the IB’s global issues website
The IB community theme was launched in April 2007 to bring together the IB community while addressing certain key global issues. The three year theme ‘Sharing our humanity’ began in April 2007 and ended in April 2010. A transition is now under way from the community theme project to the IB’s continuing and more open-ended engagement with a range of global issues. Over the coming months, the community theme website will evolve into a public global issues website and will focus on areas of particular interest to IB teachers. Initiatives relating to global issues, including IB global lessons, will continue and develop.
Much of the material, links and resources on the website are currently in English only, and we wish to strengthen IB’s support for schools working on global issues in French and Spanish. We therefore wish to appoint two assistant site moderators – one working in French and one in Spanish - to work with the site moderator on content and moderation of the evolving global issues website. Assistant site moderators will have:
Assistant site moderators will be expected to enter the global issues site a few times a week to encourage and monitor posts in their language. They are expected to contribute actively to the development of the global issues website by searching for suitable links and resources for all programmes in the appropriate language, and posting details of these on the site. They will also contribute more generally to the development of this new site. Although intended for IB World Schools, the website (unlike the OCC) will continue to be public, and it is expected that it will be of considerable general interest and value to all those working in French and Spanish on global issues in schools.
Full details of the post can be found in the conditions of appointment and duties and the job description. Assistant site moderators will be remunerated for their work according to the IB scale (currently £600 per annum).
Appointments will be for one year in the first instance, and renewable by the year thereafter. To apply, please download and complete the assistant site moderator application form.
Before applying, you should also ensure your principal/head of school is willing to support your application. Enquiries should be sent to boyd.roberts@ibo.org.
Interviews would be by phone and/or online.
The closing date for applications is 5 June 2010.
