IB marks Earth Day this week - Thursday 22 April,

Join in IB’s global lessons for Earth Day on Thursday this week, 22 April

The recent earthquakes in Haiti, Chile and China and the grounding of air travel to and from Europe because of ash from volcanic eruptions in Iceland remind us powerfully of our close connections to our home planet. Continuing concerns about climate change are a further reminder of how we interact with Earth.

Earth Day provides an opportunity for us all to consider how our lives and activities relate to, affect and are affected by the planet we all share.

IB is joining in the 40th Earth Day and the first UN International Mother Earth Day on Thursday 22 April. Special global lessons have been devised for use in IB schools (and other schools too!).

One is for humanities in the Middle Years Programme, and two are for the Diploma Programme (Theory of Knowledge; Biology, Geography;  Environmental Systems and Societies).

There are also suggestions for other activities to mark the day.

Visit the special page on this site for the lessons, suggestions and links.
